I'm a Floridian transplant making the valley a home away from home in order to access transsexual healthcare. The orange (citrus more broadly) is such a staple on my tongue and something I deeply miss from the sunshine state. The history of the Florida orange is something many queers know thanks to Anita Bryant's anti-gay crusading as the brand ambassador for the Florida's Citrus Commission. Reclaiming the citrus is part of southern fried queer pride for myself and many other folks.
