Julia Cornick

My highlighted works glamorize ultra-processed foods as the delicious, nostalgic, and accessible foods that they are. In a culture that constantly finds new ways to tell us we're wrong for the foods we like to eat, it's freeing to remember that food is morally neutral and you can actually eat whatever you want. In creating "...and I hate RFK!" and "Valentines Cookies and Chocolate Cookies" I enjoyed indulging in the childhood nostalgia of iced sugar cookies, pretend food, and pony beads.

My pieces are inspired by the work of Virginia Sole-Smith, Corinne Fay, Aubrey Gordon and Michael Hobbes.
